10 Things I Want to Change in the World

Being just one person, there is a lot I cannot accomplish with myself. I’m just an ordinary person living an ordinary life and it’s quite hard putting myself into the top, ordering people to do this and that. For the most part, I don’t have such privilege and honestly, it sucks.

Even so, like everyone else, I’m free to dream. These are the things I want to do if I get a chance to. All of these are entirely hypothetical since I know there’s a very little chance that I could ever do these things on my own.

1. Education would be a higher priority over other things that needs funds. Except health, I guess. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy there’s a good number of countries where in they place education on the top of their priority but in the Philippines, when money is distributed, fairness is undetectable. For example, those politicians or television actors, both are high-paying jobs. But seriously, do they really have to be paid that much? I really don’t think so.

2. Cinemas would show old random movies every week. Isn’t it great if cinemas in malls would show random movies that came out last year or a classic film from another era? Sure, there’s the DVDs but wouldn’t it be great if you could watch the film you missed again on the big screen? It’s just, I’m a movie junkie. It gets me down when I miss the movies I want to watch in cinemas.

3. People would take personal responsibility. Even though such thing is not your job, you don’t need anyone’s permission to make changes. If you want change, start with yourself. Never think that it’s not your job.

4. Find an alternative fuel since prices are going high. A decade ago, here in the Phils., one liter only costs around P30. Now it’s even reaching P60. Cars are a necessity for everyone and now it’s starting to be a privilege. I hope they invent more electric and smart cars. We badly need it.

5. Trash cans on the sidewalk. And I’m talking about every sidewalk. I’m quite an obsessive compulsive person and honestly, everytime I see trash especially cigarette butts on the street, I wouldn’t think twice in picking it up if only if it wasn’t dirty.

6. Shelter for everyone who needs it. This is what’s lacking in our country the most. Everytime I go to school, I encounter homeless people knocking on the window of my car and it’s depressing. I hope the government starts to construct buildings that will shelter those people, even just little rooms.

7. No parole for murderers. I just think those people who are proven to have killed someone purposely doesn’t deserve to live a life. They took away an innocent life and them existing is already enough.

8. Free healthcare or check-up for everyone. No one can work efficiently or bear going to school when sick. It’s enough that you get to spend for the meds you need. Paying for knowing what is wrong with your body is just a little too much.

9. Sex education. In this century, young adults already need this. Those who are against this really should open their minds. It’s not corrupting the minds of the youth, for crying out loud! Be open to reality. It’s better to have knowledge than nothing.

10. For every tree cut down, one must be planted again. I just really want to breathe fresh air, that’s all.

Honestly, I could go on and on, as could as most people. But I guess this is too much already, I can’t even do one on my own. :-( Upsetting.
